TANet Regional Network
National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University is the regional network center for the Taiwan Academic Network (TANet) in Hsinchu and Miaoli. NYCU combines the network connections of various tertiary institutions, high schools and vocational schools, county and city education network centers, and research, cultural, and educational institutions in Hsinchu and Miaoli. NYCU now connects more than 20 institutions, providing them with a good network environment. To ensure the smooth operation of this regional network, the area network management committee meets at least once per semester in accordance with Ministry of Education guidelines. In addition to announcing new public management policies, these committee meetings also include education and training information exchange between network managers.
TWAREN GigaPOP
The Taiwan Advanced Research & Education Network (TWAREN), also known as the Advanced Research and Education Network, was constructed and maintained by the National Applied Research Laboratories National Center for High-Performance Computing. The purpose of this network is to maintain a dedicated academic research network to facilitate international research in the teaching and research community, and to allow these entities to participate in large-scale international cooperation programs and to achieve the goal of constructing an all-optical network infrastructure. The National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University IT Service Center is the GigaPOP for the TWAREN in Hsinchu and Miaoli, and is responsible for maintaining the normal operation of TWAREN equipment placed in the center. NYCU helps schools and research units in the Hsinchu and Miaoli counties connect smoothly with the TWAREN and conduct research, and also provides technical advice and assistance to promote TWAREN and National Center for High-Performance Computing services.
