Open ISO files directly in Windows 11 / Windows 10

In Windows 8 and above, you can open an ISO file directly.
Just double-click on an ISO file and run the executable file (setup, autorun or install) to start the installer.
In addition, Windows can mount an ISO file as a storage device, which allows you to directly read the content of the ISO file. Just Right-click on the file and click “mount” on the menu. Then, File Explorer will show a new CD-ROM icon; you can click the icon to read the data of the ISO file.

ISO installation
We can copy an entire CD-ROM into a file in a specific format such as the ISO file format. The copied file can then be stored in a hard disk drive. We provide ISO files for most campus licensed software. The following instructions will guide you to open an ISO file and install a software system. However, some software systems are not stored in ISO files and can be installed directly after downloading, for example, the anti-virus software.

I.

We can use an unpacker to open an ISO file. 7-zip is a commonly used unpacker, and you can download it.
You can then right-click on the ISO file and select “Unzip to (folder name)” under “7-Zip”.

Unzip archive

II.

Run Setup.exe or other installation program from the unpacked folder to start the installation.

Execute Setup.exe
